Report: Eagles lose assistant offensive line coach to Saints

Report: Eagles lose assistant offensive line coach to Saints

Another member of Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff is headed to New Orleans.

Ever since becoming the New Orleans Saints’ new head coach, former Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore hasn’t been shy to target members of Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff. And now we know at least one Eagles assistant will be following Moore down to Nawlins.

The Eagles are losing run game specialist/assistant offensive line T.J. Paganetti to the Saints, according to a report from Nick Underhill.

As of me typing this sentence, it’s not yet clear what Paganetti’s new title will be.

After beginning his coaching career at Oregon, Paganetti joined the Eagles as part of Chip Kelly’s original staff in 2013. A snapshot of his coaching experience since then:

2013-2014 — Eagles analyst (offense and quarterbacks)
2015-2016 — Oregon Graduate assistant/linebackers coach
2017-2018 — Eagles offensive quality control/assistant offensive line coach
2019-2020 — Eagles assistant running backs coach
2021-2022 — Eagles offensive quality control coach
2023 — Eagles run game specialist/assistant tight ends coach
2024 — Eagles run game specialist/assistant offensive line coach

Paganetti, a two-time Super Bowl champion, clearly has experience working with legendary Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland. With the Saints unable to hire Stout, they went for one of his proteges instead.

In other news, Underhill reports that Eagles quarterbacks coach “Doug Nussmeier is the favorite to be the Saints offensive coordinator.” This sentiment comes as no surprise since Nussmeier has been considered likely to follow Moore to New Orleans for a promotion. With Nussmeier being the favorite for OC and Brandon Staley reportedly the favorite for defensive coordinator, the Eagles might be able to retain Jemal Singleton and Christian Parker.

But it looks like Paganetti and Nussmeier will be headed out the door.
