Dolphins free agents 2025: Walk, tag, re-sign – Dee Eskridge

Next up on our review of the 2025 Miami Dolphins free agents is wide receiver Dee Eskridge.

We continue our look at the Miami Dolphins’ potential free agents with a return to the offensive side of the ball. After sticking to the defensive secondary for the last two reviews, today we take a look at a player who could be a threat to that secondary with wide receiver Dee Eskridge.

Eskridge’s contract is set to expire on March 12, when the 2025 NFL league year and free agency begin. Miami has 32 players who are scheduled to be free agents on that day, with decisions on the future of each of those players needing to be made now. Will the team try to re-sign a player? Will they use a franchise or transition tag on him? Or will the player head to free agency?

Today, we take a look at Eskridge and as you to weigh in on his potential future with the team.

Esrkidge was waived by the Seattle Seahawks at the end of the preseason in 2024, with the Dolphins signing him to their practice squad shortly thereafter. He spent a couple of months on the practice squad, including two elevations for game day, before being promoted to the active roster in late October. He was inactive for most games after the promotion, but was a depth option throughout the season and served as a returner on special teams when he was active.

2025 Outlook

Eskridge’s role in 2025 is likely as a depth wide receiver who can serve as a special team returner – the same role he had in 2025. He is primarily a speed option, so the return role works well for him. He is likely a fringe practice squad/end-of-roster player who may be inactive during game day. He has the potential to grow into a bigger rotational role as the season progresses.

Walk, Tag, Re-Sign?

Projected tag value (Wide receiver): $25.7 million (franchise); $22.5million (transition) (via OvertheCap.com)

Re-sign. The Dolphins love speed, and Eskridge provides it. They need depth at wide receiver, and Eskridge provides it. They need return options, and Eskridge provides it. They need to add players to the roster with lower salary cap numbers, and Eskridge provides it. He would seem to be a fine player to bring back in 2025, even if he is destined to land on the practice squad when the preseason ends.
