Other Giant observations
New York Giants 7-round mock draft: Giants select WR/CB Travis Hunter at No. 3, pick up QB Riley Leonard in Round 4 | PFF
Beyond quarterback, the New York Giants still have pressing needs, particularly on the offensive line and in the secondary. In this mock draft, they address both areas multiple times. The haul includes WR/CB Travis Hunter in the first round, S Xavier Watts from Notre Dame in the second and Arizona OT Jonah Savaiinaea in the third.
The team does address their need at quarterback, drafting Notre Dame’s QB Riley Leonard with their second of two picks in Round 4.
Ex-Giants WR to screwed-up franchise: Strahan sent a message and you’d better listen | NJ.com
“That’s a shot across the bow; that’s a warning shot,” Amani Toomer said on ESPN’s Bart & Carlin. “We want results. We want to be proud of the organization that we shed blood, sweat, and tears (for). We’re not just going to waive the pom-poms if we don’t feel like it’s a product that is worth waiving the pom-poms for. “That’s why we’re holding them accountable like they held us accountable for 13 of my years and 15 of Strahan’s years. So, don’t be mad at that. Don’t let the anger fall away from where it should be.”
Ranking Giants’ top 10 unrestricted free agents: Should Darius Slayton, Azeez Ojulari return? | The Athletic
Ojulari’s market will be fascinating. He has averaged 0.48 sacks per game during his career. For perspective, Burns, who signed a five-year, $141 million contract with the Giants, has averaged 0.56 sacks per game. There’s a lot more that goes into being a high-paid pass rusher than sacks, but players who sack the quarterback get paid.
Ojulari’s latest injury should make him more affordable, but it doesn’t necessarily make a return to the Giants more likely. If Ojulari is forced to settle for a prove-it deal, like the one-year, $5 million contract projected by Pro Football Focus, it would make more sense for him to go to a team that doesn’t have two every-down outside linebackers blocking his path to playing time.
Matthew Stafford landing spots: Steelers, Giants among best fits if Rams make veteran QB available for trade | CBSSports.com
2. New York Giants. The Giants certainly could select a quarterback at No. 3 overall, but then Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen would be putting their jobs on the line for a rookie. If they are simply not sold on Ward or Sanders, Stafford would be a great option for the Giants. He and Malik Nabers could be a fun duo to watch.
The Giants hired former Jacksonville Jaguars assistant Chad Hall, the brother of Stafford’s wife, to be their new assistant quarterbacks coach. If we get to the point where the Rams decide to trade Stafford, he would have a say in his destination. Hall’s hiring probably makes the Giants a more attractive landing spot for the Stafford family.

Every NFL Team’s Biggest Need Entering 2025 Offseason | The 33rd Team
Biggest Need: Quarterback. The New York Giants are set up well to turn things around quickly. They have a bonafide No. 1 receiver on the roster, an All-Pro caliber left tackle, and a defensive line that should be among the best in the league. However, they need the franchise quarterback to make everything gel. And with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, you can bet that they will be targeting one at that spot.

At No. 25 is Tyrone Tracy played who stepped up for Big Blue after Devin Singletary’s injury, averaging nearly 14 carries per game over the final 13 games, and ended the season with 1,100 scrimmage yards. There’s a chance Tracy will be given a bigger role in 2025. Singletary was ranked 42nd.
