Rams played Eagles better than anybody else in playoffs

Are the Rams the team that’s closest to beating the Eagles next year?

The Philadelphia Eagles won their last two playoff games by a combined score of 95-45, which will definitely help move their 2024 team up the “All-Time List” a little bit when it’s all said and done. Though the Eagles didn’t have the best or even second-best record of any team in the NFL, they went 14-3 with two of those losses coming in September and two of those losses being by 3 points or less.

That includes a 37-20 win over the Rams on Sunday Night Football, but in the playoffs no team played the Eagles better than L.A. did.

Does that mean that the Rams are the closest team in the NFC to upending Philadelphia next season? Or did the snow simply freeze the Eagles for a minute? The Eagles did lead 28-15 with 4:36 left in the game, so no team was as competitive against Philadelphia as we may have expected going into the postseason.

In the Eagles wild card win over the Packers, Philly came out ahead 22-10. That gives the Eagles a combined playoff point differential of 145-77, but that doesn’t really emphasize that they had a big lead against the Rams in the fourth quarter and a much bigger lead over the Chiefs until letting up a little in the final few minutes.

The 2025 Eagles really dominated the playoffs in a way that few teams have, but could the Rams close the gap soon?

One advantage that L.A. has over other NFC teams is that their defensive line might be on its way to competing with the Eagles offensive line in the coming season. Philly dominates in the trenches and the Rams have clearly attempted to match suit with draft picks like Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner, and Byron Young, while also beefing up the offensive line with Steve Avila and Kevin Dotson.

The Rams do have to play three first place teams compared to three last place teams for the 49ers, so they will have their work cut out for them in the NFC West.

In the rest of the conference, the Lions went 15-2, the Vikings went 14-3, the Commanders went 12-5 and reached the NFC Championship game with a rookie quarterback, and the Packers went 11-6. The Rams were tied with the Bucs and Seahawks for the sixth-best record in the NFC and they’re going to make a few changes, starting with parting ways with Cooper Kupp.

But could that just help make the Rams better?

Let us know what you think: How close are the Rams to being the best team in the NFC next season? What needs to change in order for that to happen?
