Christian Jones is moving on
The New York Giants have a new opening on their coaching staff as the Cleveland Browns are hiring assistant quarterbacks coach Christian Jones to be their tight ends coach.
Jones has been with the Giants for three season as an assistant coach for Brian Daboll. In 2022, he was an offensive assistant who worked with quarterbacks. For the past two seasons, his title has been assistant quarterbacks coach.
Jones has a relationship with Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski from when both were on the Minnesota Vikings’ coaching staff in 2019. Stefanski was offensive coordinator and Jones an offensive quality control coach.
Jones coached wide receivers for the Vikings in 2020 and 2021.
The Giants are still awaiting final word on whether or not they will lose offensive coordinator Mike Kafka to the New Orleans Saints. Kafka interviewed twice for the Saints’ head-coaching vacancy, but Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is expected to get that job.
Assistant GM Brandon Brown is also expected to interview for the vacant GM job with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
