Will this finally be Torry Holt’s year?

Holt is the last Greatest Show on Turf member not in Canton

L.A. Rams fans have been through hell this offseason, but it could get better for them if Torry Holt is selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Holt is the last notable member of the Greatest Show on Turf not in Canton, and that can all change at Thursday’s NFL Honors. At long last, will this FINALLY be Holt’s year?

For some ridiculous reason, Holt is not a HOFer. The reasoning is attributed to the logjam at wide receiver that has plagued the hall for the last few years. However, there is zero excuse for the lone wideout on the 2000s All-Decade team to be excluded.

This is Holt’s sixth year as a finalist. Waiting to see whether he gets the coveted knock on his door has unfortunately become a yearly venture at this point.

There’s only so much I can include about Holt and his accomplishments before it feels like I’m yelling into the wind. I’ve damn near lost my voice by now—not that it seems to matter since HOF voters don’t seem to listen anyway.

Last year, Andre Johnson was selected for the hallowed halls of Canton instead of Holt. No disrespect to Johnson who deserved the honor, just not ahead of the former Rams star. Isn’t it funny how much weight HOF voters put into a player’s Super Bowl wins, that it doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to ex-Rams? For goodness’ sake, it took Isaac Bruce six years of eligibility to get voted in.

Class of 2025 competition at receiver includes Steve Smith Sr., Reggie Wayne and Antonio Gates. Gates should be a shoo-in after being snubbed in 2024. When it comes to deciding between Holt, Smith and Wayne, there’s only one correct decision. Or you’d think it would be simple. Even Devin Hester made it into the HOF before Holt. Again, not knocking on Hester but the logic the hall uses is beyond faulty.

The Hall of Fame has a no-brainer on its hands, and there’s no way that Holt should be kept waiting any longer. I’ll leave this here in case HOF voters need another reminder of Holt’s greatness:
