Philadelphia has some interesting free agents
The Philadelphia Eagles have a reputation for building one of the best rosters in the NFL.
The Eagles have perfectly married the concept of building through the draft and supplement that process through free agency. The result, of course, is that Philadelphia is playing in the Super Bowl for the second time in three seasons.
That roster could get somewhat weaker as the Eagles have some intriguing pending free agents. Here are some to watch for the Las Vegas Raiders as fans prepare for the Silver and Black beef up in free agent as they are projected to have more than $92 million in free agency.
- Linebacker Zach Baun
- Pass-rusher Josh Sweat
- Defensive tackle Milton Williams
- Guard Mekhi Becton
Baun, Sweat and Williams will likely be offered major deals in free agency.
Baun came out of nowhere, after he signed a one-year deal with the Eagles in free agency last year. He went from being basically a special teamer with the New Orleans Saints to a finalist for the NFL Defensive of Player of the Year. He’ll be offered big money.
Sweat led the Eagles with eight sacks and he had 54 pressures. The Raiders could offer Sweat a sweet deal to team with Maxx Crosby. They certainly have the need.
Williams is an underrated disrupter, who is going to get paid in free agency. Could the Raiders follow up with adding Williams a year after adding Christian Wilkins as a big-ticket signing. They’d be stacked at the position.
Becton may be best suited with staying as part of the Eagles’ dominant offensive line as the former New York Jets’ first-round pick had a bounce-back season in his first in Philadelphia. Still, he could be an option for the Raiders as well.
