The Bengals star wideout has made it clear he wants to stay in Cincinnati and wants the deal done soon
This is hands down the most important offseason in recent memory for the Cincinnati Bengals, and the front office has a lot of work to do to get back to Super Bowl hopes.
The Bengals have plenty of contract conversations to have this offseason with both Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase.
Joe Burrow has put pressure on the front office publicly multiple times to get deals done with Higgins and Chase.
Some news broke about Tee’s contract situation, and he has made it clear he does not want to wait and wants his contract figured out ‘very soon.’
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini on The Scoop City podcast, Higgins “wants to have an answer” for his contract status and NFL future “very soon.”
This is an incredibly fair thing for Higgins to say, considering he switched agents in the middle of the season to show he wants to stay with Chase and Burrow long-term as well.
But what does a contract extension look like for Higgins?
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote that Higgins could be worth around $30M per season with his next contract.
“The lowest estimate I heard was somewhere slightly above DeVonta Smith’s three-year, $75 million deal. The rest saw him breaking into the $30 million range, based on his status as a No. 1-caliber receiver and the number of teams desperate for pass-catching help,” Fowler stated.
It is a big mountain to climb for the Bengals to make both extensions work out for Chase and Higgins, but it is a must, especially after all the steps Tee has made to make it clear he wants to be in Cincinnati.
