Could Dart and Powers-Johnson reunite in Las Vegas?

The Corner Canyon High School teammates could become teammates again soon

Mobile, Ala. — With the Las Vegas Raiders in the market for a quarterback during the 2025 NFL Draft, there’s little doubt that the Raiders were paying close attention to Ole MissJaxson Dart during the Senior Bowl this week. Dart was arguably the best quarterback during the event’s practices and has a connection to the Silver and Black in last year’s second-round pick, center Jackson Powers-Johnson.

The two players share more than a first name — granted, they spell it differently — as both are 2021 graduates of Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah. Dart and Powers-Johnson led the Chargers to three consecutive State Championships while both became All-Americans and 4-star recruits, according to 247Sports.

The quarterback and center duo would part ways in college as, ironically, neither received a scholarship offer from the other’s school, per 247Sports. So, Dart went on to USC before transferring to Ole Miss a year later while Powers-Johnson headed to Oregon. However, reuniting with the Raiders is a possibility and something the former Rebel would welcome.

“Yeah, I would love that, that’s my boy.” Dart told the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vincent Bonsigore when asked about playing with Powers-Johnson during the Senior Bowl’s media days. “Obviously, people know us as high school teammates, he was my center. He’s a hell of a talent, every year I was trying to get him out of Oregon and have him come play with me [at Ole Miss]. It’d be amazing [to be teammates again].”

Dart also mentioned that playing in Las Vegas would be ideal since he’d be close to home, but he didn’t disclose if he’s met with the Raiders yet. However, as mentioned above, the club should be interested in him given its need for the position. Plus, having the team’s starting center vouch for him should carry some weight.

Expect Las Vegas to be connected to Dart between now and the draft, especially during the upcoming NFL Combine. What round he’ll get selected in late April is still a question mark as analysts seem to be split on his projection right now and the QB3 battle is currently a tight one.

But if Dart is available with the 37th pick in the second round or the 68th selection in the third, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Corner Canyon alums reunite and form a young quarterback-center duo in the desert. And if the former Rebel continues to ascend over the next few months, who knows, he may end up being in play at No. 6 overall.
