The Eagles’ second-team All Pro left tackle cites this groups closeness and bond as why they’re better prepared for their trip to New Orleans.

As the Eagles get ready for their last few practices before heading to New Orleans, Jordan Mailata spoke to reporters on Thursday and opened up a bit on getting back to the Super Bowl. He admitted that it took him until the start of the 2023 season to really move past the loss against the Chiefs two years ago, and revealed that he thinks this year’s team is better equipped to win a ring.

“I think this team is more closer, more special than the last team that went to the Super Bowl.”

He was asked to elaborate, and credited the connections among players and coaches being elevated this season.

“Our relationships, on a personal level, are much more closer. And it carries over to the field, the professional side.”

Mailata said that the tight bonds were not just among the offensive line, and explained that it was a closeness among different position groups and throughout the roster that felt deeper this go around. Developing those relationships is something that was very intentional, and includes things on and off the field to bring guys together.

“Spending time together outside the facility and going to dinners, going to people’s houses. Group settings, as well. And also just here, the grind. I think we’ve said it a couple times, it’s a little harder this year than previous years, and I think that was with intent to grow us closer. If we’re all in misery, then we’re in misery together.”

He also noted that his other favorite position group is the defensive line, not only because it’s good going against them on the field, but also because they have some great personalities.

Mailata knows they’ve got a tough challenge ahead, but has confidence that this close knit Eagles team is the right group to get their revenge on the Chiefs in New Orleans.
