NFC Championship could be Darius Slay’s last game in Philly as an Eagle

Big Play Slay is leaning towards playing one more season, but is reportedly aware it might not be with the Eagles.

Darius Slay has played 12 impressive seasons in the NFL, and while he doesn’t expect to retire just yet, he has reportedly acknowledged his final season might not be with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Slays time in Philly was already over a few years ago when he was prepared to go elsewhere due to contract negotiations. Big Dom actually reached out and helped convince the veteran CB to come back and Howie Roseman opened Jeffrey Lurie’s wallet to seal the deal.

It would be a shame if he ends up playing one final season somewhere else, but if he doesn’t return, it’s in large part to the development he’s helped with of young guys like Quinton Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, and Isaiah Rodgers. While the youth is the future of the position, the Eagles have already benefited from his veteran experience throughout this playoff run.

Slay has gotten flack from dans at times, but his coaches and teammates have remained effusive in their support of him as a leader and player.

If the NFC Championship ends up being his last home game at Lincoln Financial Field, he’s definitely left his mark on this team. His five years in Philly included 272 total tackles, including 11 for loss, 56 passes defended, 9 interceptions, 2 pick 6’s, and 1 forced fumble. He also earned 3 consecutive Pro Bowl honors, and was a player-voted captain.

Big Play Slay definitely left his mark on this team, and this city, and hopefully can have a proper sendoff after two more victories.
