Nate Scheelhaase is the latest Rams assistant coach to get coordinator buzz

Death, taxes, and the Los Angeles Rams getting their coaching staff and front office poached by the rest of the NFL.

As many as five (and counting) coaches or front office executives are at risk of leaving the Rams. These are the current individuals seeing potential opportunities outside of the organization so far this offseason:

John Streicher, Game management

Will follow Mike Vrabel to the New England Patriots

Losing Streicher could prove unfortunate, as he made key differences in how Sean McVay approached fourth downs, timeouts, and other key gameday management decisions. Will the team look to backfill this analytics-adjacent position? How many individuals around the NFL have a similar skillset?

Nick Caley, TE’s coach

New York Jets requested interview for offensive coordinator opening

Aubrey Pleasant, Assistant HC

Will interview with Ben Johnson for Chicago Bears’ defensive coordinator role

Nate Scheelhaase, Passing game specialist

A candidate to replace Liam Coen as Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator

Scheelhaase has been on the staff in Los Angeles for two years. He joined the team in 2023 when McVay spent time away at the conclusion of a difficult season and then made sweeping changes to the staff upon his return. Scheelhaase’s arrival coincided with that of offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur.

Ray Farmer, Senior personnel executive

Interviewed for Jets general manager position in replacement of Joe Douglas

Farmer has been with the Rams for five years. He is the former general manager of the Cleveland Browns and held this title from 2014 to 2015. When Brad Holmes was hired away from LA as the GM for the Detroit Lions in 2021, Farmer’s role grew with the Rams grew in significance. He’s an important advisor for Snead.
