Weekly check in on Philadelphia’s 2024 NFL Draft class.

The Eagles eked out a win over the Los Angeles Rams to advance to the NFC Championship Game. Snowy conditions proved to impact the game for both teams but ultimately it was the Eagles who made enough big plays on the sides of the ball to win. Here’s a look at how the rookies performed.

Quinyon Mitchell: N/A

Quinyon Mitchel had a hot start to the game, including a great pass break up in the first quarter. Disaster struck when he injured his shoulder on a tackle attempt of Matt Stafford. It looked like a serious collision and it knocked him out for the rest of the game. Mitchell said he will be fine for next week contest against Washington. Here’s hoping.

Cooper DeJean: B+

Cooper DeJean had a much better game against the Rams the second time around. He didn’t allow much yardage in his coverage, looked really solid against the run, and neeeeearly had a pick to seal the game late. Maybe if it wasn’t snowing, DeJean hauls in that pass and is the game’s hero. Still a nice showing.

Jalyx Hunt: B

Jalyx Hunt keeps flashing at the right times. This week, it was a crucial sack on Matt Stafford. The sack was impressive because it was high effort from the rookie, fighting through a block to bring down the QB after a few seconds. Hunt looked fine otherwise, but that was his bright moment.

The Rest

  • As expected, Johnny Wilson got a few snaps, largely on running downs. The Eagles also had the 6’6” receiver on the field for a Hail Mary attempt.
  • The Eagles opted to start Oren Burks in Nakobe Dean’s spot instead of Jeremiah Trotter Junior. Burks struggled at times, which was frustrating to watch considering Trotter has looked good in limited time. It’s likely the team is sticking with a veteran in the playoffs because they know what they’ll get.
