The Bengals have a pair of new coaches for the offensive line.

The Cincinnati Bengals have hired Scott Peters as the new offensive line coach and Michael McCarthy as assistant offensive line coach, the team announced Monday.

Peters, 46, comes to Cincinnati from New England, where he spent the 2024 season as the Patriots’ offensive line coach. He previously served as assistant offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns from 2020-23.

“Scott is a great fit for our offense,” said head coach Zac Taylor in a press release. “He is passionate about the position and has done a great job of both developing young players and helping veteran players continue to grow. He is familiar with the AFC North and knows what it takes to win in our division. I am excited to have him on our staff.”

As a player, Peters was an All-Pac-10 center at Arizona State University before being selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2002 draft. He spent time with five NFL teams from 2002-09 and saw action in seven regular-season games for the New York Giants in ’03.

McCarthy, 39, also spent last season on New England’s staff, serving as an offensive coaching assistant. He coached in the collegiate ranks for the previous six years, spending the 2018 season as an offensive assistant at Rutgers University before coaching the offensive line at Brown University from ’19-23.

McCarthy first served on an NFL coaching staff in 2015, when he was an offensive quality control coach for Cleveland. He then spent the 2016-17 seasons with the Detroit Lions, holding the title of offensive quality control/assistant offensive line coach. His previous college coaching experience includes time with North Carolina Central (2014), Tulane (’12-13), and the College of New Jersey (’09).
