The NFL continues this week’s slate of opening-week games with its first-ever game played in South America. The Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles will face off this evening at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil. The game in Brazil has been a bit controversial, one of the reasons being security concerns for the two teams’ staff and players. Both teams had been advised not to bring their families on the trip. Once in Brazil, both teams were instructed not to leave their hotels or text from their phones.
The Eagle, who will serve as the “home team” in this game, hope to start as hot this season as they did last season before slumping towards the end of the season. Despite starting off winning all but one of their first eleven games of the 2023 season, the Eagles struggled down the stretch, dropping five of their last six games, eventually losing in the Wild Card Round of the NFC Playoffs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On the other side of the ball, the Packers hope to build on their success from last season. With the league’s youngest team, the Packers won six of their final eight games last season, propelling them into the playoffs. The Packers defeated the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC’s Wildcard Round before dropping their game against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC’s Divisional Round.
