Divisional Round updates.
The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced two roster moves ahead of their Divisional Round playoff game against the Los Angeles Rams. An overview:
- FB Khari Blasingame and LB Nicholas Morrow were temporarily elevated from the practice squad.
Note: teams can temporarily promote practice squad players up to three times each in the regular season and an unlimited number of times in the postseason.
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
KHARI BLASINGAME
The Eagles previously elevated Blasingame for last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers. He played two offensive snaps and 10 special teams snaps.
The Eagles used Ben VanSumeren as a fullback on five of their 73 offensive snaps against the Rams back in Week 12. Perhaps Blasingame will be a little more involved in this game than he’s been to this point with just four offensive snaps played over four games?
NICHOLAS MORROW
The Eagles re-signed Morrow earlier this week in the aftermath of Nakobe Dean suffering a season-ending knee injury that landed him on injured reserve.
Morrow figures to provide depth behind Zack Baun, Oren Burks, and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in addition to contributing on special teams.
Morrow is wearing No. 43 after wearing No. 41 last year.
COULD THE RAMS BE WITHOUT THEIR STARTING LEFT TACKLE?
Sean McVay said that he expects the four Rams players who were ruled questionable on the final injury report to play in Philly.
But it was curious to see Rams starting left tackle Alaric Jackson miss Friday’s practice due to a newly listed knee injury. In potentially related news, the Rams temporarily elevated depth offensive tackle A.J. Arcuri from the practice squad. Arcuri hasn’t been elevated for a game the Rams have tried to win (so, excluding Week 18) since Week 1, which Jackson missed.
So, might the Rams be preparing for Jackson not to play? Or perhaps they’re anticipating he might not be able to make it through the game?
Certainly something to keep an eye on.
Eagles-Rams inactives will be announced 90 minutes before kickoff on Sunday at 1:30 PM Eastern.
