The Los Angeles Rams are 4.5-point underdogs on Sunday Night Football against the Detroit Lions, according to FanDuel. My pick this week is going to be for the Rams to win outright and therefore also against the 4.5-point spread.

It’s the Sunday Night Game and all eyes should be on this one, and that honestly shouldn’t have much effect on either side. The Rams and Lions have each been in big games as recent as last year and both should come ready to fire out of a cannon. Of course, funnily enough it is Jared Goff (not Matthew Stafford) with the better Sunday night record, but that doesn’t mean Stafford can’t still get the job done here.
time to buck this trend!

Unlike last year when the Rams were without Cooper Kupp to start the year, it does appear the offense is fairly healthy. Yes there is a suspension to Alaric Jackson, and LA does seem to get hit with the injury bug during training camp, but at this point the expectation is the offense will be with more starters (including Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua) than without. With a dialed-up Sean McVay (6-1 in Week 1 as an NFL head coach) calling the shots this offense should be rolling.

As good as the Lions defense is, that is just a lot of fire power to keep up with. Not to mention Jonah Jackson who played for Detroit last year and is now with the Rams. Might he be able to give LA some specifics on what Detroit wants to do and how they do it?
On the defensive side for the Rams, the front-four starters includes rookies Braden Fiske and Jared Verse, as well as second year players Kobie Turner and Byron Young. With new defensive coordinator Chris Shula, I expect this defense to be rotating personnel and attacking Goff and the Lions with different looks, penetration and blitzes on Sunday night. Amon-ra St. Brown will get his, but it won’t be enough to keep up with LA’s offense.
