If the Raiders need a vet to help bring along rookie does Cousins fit?
It’s the offseason and we’re fully into the who-will-be-the-Las-Vegas-Raiders-next-quarterback mode.
Well, we’ve bene there for months, but now we’re in overdrive.
Yes, for the third straight offseason since the Raiders moved on from nine-year starting quarterback Derek Carr, there is a need an uncertainty at the most important position on the field.
We will discuss many options. Yes, we know the focus is getting a rookie quarterback and that will very likely be the case.
But the team could also opt to bring in a bridge quarterback to help bring along a young quarterback and not rush him.
If that’s the case, an option could be Kirk Cousins. He is expected to be released or traded from the Atlanta Falcons. If traded, he’d have to waive a no-trade clause and it likely wouldn’t be expensive.
Cousins, who will turn 37 in August, was terrible in the weeks before he was benched in December. But he was solid earlier in the season and he may not be healthy.
Cousins will likely get a job in 2025 and his new team must bank on his getting fully healthy rather than the possibility of him being under the hill. You’re thoughts on a low-risk move by the Raiders to bring him in as a short-term bridge quarterback?
