Can undrafted rookie make an instant impact?
The Las Vegas Raiders’ undrafted rookie linebacker Amari Gainer made the 53-man roster after a strong preseason.
Let’s look at what to expect from Amari Gainer in the 2024 NFL season:
Size:
6-3, 236 pounds.
College recap:
He played in 13 games and had 27 tackles, six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble at North Carolina. Prior to playing at North Carolina, he spent five seasons at Florida State (he grew up in Tallahassee). He played in 46 games with 18 starts for the Seminoles. He is known for being good in coverage.
What he offers Raiders in 2024:
He showed in the preseason he can make plays in all facets of the game and he even wore the green dot in a game. He is an active tackler.
Best-case 2024 scenario:
Unless there are injuries, Gainer will likely be a special teamer, who could occasionally get some defensive snaps. But if he performs when given a chance, he could make a strong case as a future piece on the defense.
