2024 NFL season predictions: Playoffs, Super Bowl, draft order, and individual awards – PhillyVoice
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Quinyon Mitchell, Eagles: The first defensive player taken in the 2024 draft went 15th overall! Throughout training camp, I watched as Mitchell earned a starting role at corner. He’s tough, instinctive, and he has ideal size/athleticism traits. I think he’ll be good right away, and he’ll likely stay on the field all game. He should have plenty of opportunities to make plays as opposing quarterbacks will test him.
Eagles-Packers Game Preview: 6 questions and answers with the enemy – BGN
I’m gonna go Packers just because I’m not sure about your offensive line. It’s Week 1, though, so I’m not really certain about anything. Hoping for a good game more than anything. I expect the Packers to win the division and be a contender in the NFC. If they fall short of that, they’ll be a disappointment for sure.
5 Questions with the Enemy: Previewing Packers vs. Eagles – Acme Packing Company
We’re just a day away from the Green Bay Packers’ odd season opener in Brazil against the Philadelphia Eagles, so we figured that it was time to pick the brain of Bleed Green Nation’s Brandon Lee Gowton — the manager of APC’s sister site covering the Eagles. We got to ask him five questions about his team leading up to the Week 1 matchup. If you want to peep what he asked me for BGN, you can find that HERE.
Week 1 fantasy football start/sit advice for Eagles vs. Packers in Brazil – SB Nation
Quarterbacks. Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles) – Strong Start. Philadelphia’s signal caller has blossomed into an absolutely elite fantasy option over the past couple of years, finishing as the overall QB3 in 2022 and as the overall QB2 behind only Josh Allen in 2023. While his passing numbers aren’t in the upper echelon of his peers (he has yet to reach 4,000 passing yards in a season), Hurts has achieved at least 600 rushing yards and double digit rushing touchdowns every year since taking over as the full time starter in 2021. This includes 15 rushing scores last year, which tied him with Allen for most among QBs. The rushing upside makes Hurts completely matchup proof.

Game Preview – GB at PHI – Iggles Blitz
Fangio does have a revamped secondary to slow down the Packers group of gifted receivers. There may not be one elite player, but the overall group is outstanding. It will be interesting to see if Quinyon Mitchell plays in the slot and outside or just stays at corner. The Eagles first round pick had a strong summer and looks like he could be an impact rookie. The Eagles defense doesn’t need to pitch a shutout. They need to limit TDs and to make some plays. The Eagles offense is loaded and should be able to score. Jalen Hurts is healthy and coming off a great camp. He added Saquon and Jahan Dotson as weapons. And he now has a coach in Kellen Moore who will be more creative and offer some schematic advantages that were missing last year.
In Roob’s Eagles Observations: Figuring out how to replace Isaiah Rodgers – NBCSP
1. If you’re thinking Brandon Graham is only here to take a few bows, make a few rah-rah speeches and ride the bench during his 15th and final NFL season, you might have to think again. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio loves B.G. and indicated this week that the 36-year-old may be asked to play more than last year: “I told him, ‘Be ready to play.’ There’s no pitch count on him.” Graham averaged 23 snaps per game last year, his lowest figure since 2013, when he played about 20 per game. But he was productive when he did get on the field and ranked 24th by Pro Football Focus out of 115 edge rushers who played at least 250 snaps. He finished the season with 3.0 sacks, six QB hits and 11 pressures playing about a third of the defensive snaps. With Haason Reddick gone, that’s 862 snaps the Eagles have to replace. Bryce Huff will get a lot of them but not 862. Josh Sweat probably won’t go over the 49 snaps per game he played last year. If Nolan Smith is productive, he’ll play a lot. But Graham said he’s ready for a bigger workload. At 275 pounds, he’s lighter than he has been in over a decade and he said he feels fast and strong as he’s set to become the first Eagle ever to play 15 seasons. “I feel great and I’m ready to go,” B.G. said. “Whatever they ask, I’m ready.”
NFL Week 1 Preview: Schedule, storylines and matchups to watch – PFF
Matchups to watch: Packers QB Jordan Love vs. Eagles pass rush. Love put on a show last season on his way to securing Green Bay’s first playoff win since Aaron Rodgers‘ departure. He produced the league’s highest passing grade (89.1) from Week 7 onward, partly due to his talent for landing downfield throws in the face of the pass rush. Love amassed the most big-time throws (13) in the NFL over that span. The Pride of this Eagles defense falls squarely on the shoulders of this pass rush. Their depth chart is littered with talented names like Jalen Carter, Bryce Huff, Brandon Graham and Josh Sweat. Last season, This group produced the fifth-most QB pressures (264) in the NFL. This pass rush will need to tap into that production if they’re going to rattle Love.
Week 1 NFL picks: Packers or Eagles in Brazil? Who’ll prevail in juicy AFC South matchup: Texans or Colts? – NFL.com
Why Dan picked the Packers: If these teams pick up where they left off last season, Green Bay will cruise in Brazil. I’m presuming the Eagles left full-on collapse mode behind in January, though, so this should be an entertaining matchup on the international stage. I don’t have a strong feeling on who has the edge here. There is no doubt Philadelphia has the talent to beat a Packers team that surged down the stretch in 2023, but in Week 1, I’m picking Jordan Love and Co. because of the continuity they enjoy, particularly on offense. Yes, Matt LaFleur has new players on his team like every other squad does at the start of the season, but the Eagles are replacing the heartbeat of their franchise, Jason Kelce, and have new coordinators on both sides of the ball, with Jalen Hurts learning an offense that was “95 percent new” to him. I’m not sure it’s all going to click right off the bat. If it does, the Packers (and the rest of the league) will be in trouble.
Solak’s Week 1 NFL picks: The upsets, overs, unders and props to target – ESPN+
SGP: Green Bay Packers money line, Luke Musgrave OVER 24.5 receiving yards and Jalen Hurts UNDER 39.5 rushing yards (+475). There are a few bets I really like for this game, which all stand well individually but can be parlayed as well. My power rankings have the Packers as the better team on a neutral field. Even if the Eagles’ defense totally rebounds from its collapse down the stretch last season, I have my doubts that the new offense will be perfectly installed in Week 1. Hurts, with no preseason reps, in an offense that is 95% new, featuring tons more motions and formations and concepts than the super-simple offense of seasons past? I’m expecting hiccups. Meanwhile, Jordan Love should get just about anything he wants over the middle of the field against a starting linebacker duo of Nakobe Dean and Zack Baun.
Spadaro: 7 Packers-Eagles storylines to follow – PE.com
Will the Eagles’ offense hit the ground running (or passing)? The Eagles didn’t play their starting offense in the preseason games, feeling like that group had plenty of quality reps in practice against the Eagles’ defense and in the joint practice with New England. So, there is a lot of “unknown” here with Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore providing the first real glimpse of what this offense is going to be about. The idea is to be a multi-faceted, attack-weaknesses, win-in-a-lot-of-different ways offense and the Eagles certainly appear to have the depth of talent across the offensive board to play that way. It is going to be really, really interesting to see how it all works out in the opener. Head Coach Nick Sirianni is 3-0 in openers, and the offense performed well in all three of those games. This game won’t answer every question, of course, but it will provide some concrete evidence of what Moore’s approach will be this season.
Offensive line injuries could play a role in Cowboys vs Browns outcome – Blogging The Boys
One of the big stories going into the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns game this week concerned the left tackle position. Mainly folks were wondering how Cowboys rookie Tyler Guyton would hold up against Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett, or his partner Za’Darius Smith. While Guyton, a first-round draft pick in 2024 has looked fantastic in training camp and the little bit of preseason he played, he is still a rookie and a real NFL game is like nothing else. It was a foregone conclusion that the Browns defense would try to isolate Guyton in the pass rush and take advantage. But as it turns out, the Cowboys may be up to some of that, too. Micah Parsons is every bit the equal of Garrett in the pass rush department, and he may be lining up against a backup on Sunday. The Browns were hoping to have starting left tackle Jedrick Wills back on Sunday, but he missed practice on Thursday due to injury and told reporters that he would not be starting on Sunday.
Giants-Vikings: What to expect when the Giants have the football – Big Blue View
The Giants should be able to move the football against this Vikings’ defense if their offensive line is competent. Blitzes will be sent, and Bricillo’s blocking must be on their P’s and Q’s. Jones has to find quick solutions when the Vikings are plus-one on the blitz. If those quick solutions are vertical one-on-one shots — excellent — if they’re quick check-downs, that’s fine too, as long as Jones isn’t taking unnecessary shots that put the Giants in second or third-and-long. Sam Darnold is the Vikings’ starting quarterback. This is a winnable football game against a defensive coordinator similar to the one the Giants recently had on staff. The offensive line should be much better. Nabers is a superstar in the making, and the Giants are relatively healthy. Brian Daboll is now calling plays. They should be able to move the football and score some points as home underdogs in Week 1.
Commanders vs Buccaneers Thursday Injury Report: Two players miss practice – Hogs Haven
Johnny Newton was limited yesterday, but didn’t practice today. Dan Quinn laid this plan out yesterday, and said the team will assess his foot issues tomorrow before determining if he’ll be to play on Sunday. That’s still looking like a long-shot at this point, but we won’t have that answer until the weekend. Marcus Mariota dealt with a groin injury that limited him to only one preseason appearance. Quinn said that injury was minor, and he could have played if it was the regular season, but now he’s dealing with another injury. He popped up on the injury report with a chest injury on Wednesday, and wasn’t at today’s practice. If Mariota can’t play Sunday, Washington will have Jeff Driskel as the team’s backup, and they also have Trace McSorley and Sam Hartman on the practice squad
