Let’s be real, last year’s Eagles playoff appearance was a farce.
It was painfully obvious that that team was at the end of their rope.
There was no reason to feel good about the Birds winning in Tampa after watching them go 1-5 down the stretch.
Sorry to remind you of 2023 but I bring it up for the contrast of how things feel different now.
The 2024 Eagles have been awesome.
They are a team worth believing in.
Today marks the first Eagles playoff game to be excited about since they lost the Super Bowl.
The Packers are a good team. They shouldn’t be slept on.
But the Eagles are better. And they have home field advantage.
It just doesn’t feel like the 2024 story is set to end in the Wild Card round.
There’s every reason to believe Saquon Barkley is not going to be denied. He’s been unstoppable.
The Eagles have the best defense in the NFL. Vic Fangio is going to keep the Packers’ scoring down.
All eyes are obviously on Jalen Hurts as he returns from his concussion. Hurts has done a great job of taking care of the ball this year. If he does that again here, there’s a good chance the Eagles win.
But I wouldn’t limit the expectations of Hurts to merely being a game manager. I think there’s a real chance he gets hot and the Eagles’ passing offense looks very hard to stop.
It’s hard to project the Eagles to look awesome from the jump when they’ve regularly started slow dating back to last season. But I think this team, for as good as they’ve been, still might have another gear they can hit.
I expect the Packers to put up a good fight. But I expect the Eagles to come out on top.
