Wild Card updates.

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced two roster moves ahead of their Wild Card playoff game against the Green Bay Packers An overview:

  • WR Parris Campbell and FB Khari Blasingame were temporarily elevated from the practice squad.

Note: teams can temporarily promote practice squad players up to three times each in the regular season and an unlimited number of times in the postseason.

Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.

PARRIS CAMPBELL

Campbell is set to be active for the sixth time this season. The Eagles previously used up his three regular season practice squad elevations in addition to signing him to the roster two different times.

Campbell has logged eight targets this season for six receptions, 30 yards, and one touchdown. He’s played 140 offensive snaps and just nine special teams snaps.

Campbell’s elevation for this game comes at a time when A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are dealing with some injuries. Brown and Smith are both expected to play against the Packers … but the Eagles giving themselves some extra wide receiver depth, just in case.

The Eagles are entering Sunday with six receivers available: A.J., DeVonta, Campbell, Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson, and Ainias Smith. The rookie Ainias Smith is a contender to be a healthy scratch.

KHARI BLASINGAME

The Eagles originally signed Blasingame to their practice squad in early December to be a replacement for injured fullback/special teams contributor Ben VanSumeren.

The Eagles immediately used up Blasingame’s three regular season practice squad elevations. He logged two offensive snaps and 50 special teams snaps in that three-game span.

Now that he’s eligible to be temporarily elevated again, the Eagles are going back to the Blasingame well. He could see some occasional fullback snaps in addition to mostly playing on special teams.
