They have scheduled two interviews, so far.
As the Cincinnati Bengals hunt for their next defensive coordinator, two top names in the 2025 coaching ranks are not expected to get a look from the Bengals.
Per James Rapien, the Bengals are not expected to interview Robert Saleh or Dennis Allen for the vacancy. Both are proven coordinators in the NFL who were promoted to a Head Coach role before being dismissed by the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints, respectively.
Saleh rose to prominence during his tenure as the San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator before moving on to New York, where he was fired in season. Allen took over for Sean Payton after being New Orleans’ defensive coordinator before also getting fired midseason.
Many fans (myself included) have been banging the table for the team to hire Saleh, but it appears Zac Taylor and co. have other candidates in mind. Allen was another name floated around by fans, but it doesn’t appear he will be getting a call either.
As of now, Cincinnati has interviewed former Los Angeles Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and had an interview scheduled with former New England Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington on Wednesday.
