Tyreek Hill wants “out” of Miami and the Rams would be an ideal landing spot

It has been almost two years since the L.A. Rams and Miami Dolphins made a trade involving a disgruntled star, so should Les Snead call up to find out if this time the player could be going in the other direction? Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill has expressed a desire to leave Miami and said “I’m out” on Sunday when asked about his future.

When asked to confirm if that meant he wanted to be off of the Dolphins roster, Hill walked away and said “Yes”.

The Rams traded Jalen Ramsey to the Dolphins two years ago in exchange for a third round pick and a backup tight end mostly because the cornerback wanted to have his future money guaranteed. L.A. wasn’t willing to do that and Miami was, so Ramsey was traded for a modest sum of draft picks.

Hill could potentially be a rather inexpensive acquisition and not cost the Rams more than a second round pick, at most.

Though Hill does have “$27.7 million guaranteed” for 2025, only $10 million of that is in 2025 base salary. It means that Hill’s cap hit to L.A. wouldn’t be nearly as much as $27 million and the team that trades for Hill could get him for relatively cheap. At 30, turning 31, Hill wouldn’t command a first round pick either and maybe would go for a third.

The Rams, always active on the trade market, are looking at a potential future here without Cooper Kupp. But even if they choose to keep Kupp, Hill would make L.A.’s offense much more dynamic and he is a vastly different kind of receiver than Kupp and Puka Nacua. With Tutu Atwell probable to leave in free agency, the Rams could replace him with a five-time All-Pro after the season is over.

It would also probably compel Matthew Stafford to put off retirement, if he’s even considering that right now.

Should the Rams trade for Tyreek Hill? At the right cost, L.A. would seemingly be the ideal “competitive” spot that Hill is seeking for his next team.
