Former Raider watch Week 18: Adams, Jets do the Raiders a favor

Checking in on a few old friends after the regular season finale

Week 18 bringing an end to the regular season and the Las Vegas Raiders’ campaign also means this will be our last former Raider watch of the year. Unfortunately, Derek Carr missed another game for the New Orleans Saints and won’t be included, but Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs were in action on Sunday.

Davante Adams

  • Stats: 6 catches, 88 yards, 1 TD
  • Game result: 32-20 Jets win

Especially since the Denver Broncos dominated the Kansas City Chiefs’ backups to remove the playoff implications for the Miami Dolphins, the big storyline from this game was Aaron Rodgers saving his best performance for the last week of the year. Rodgers threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns, one being the 500th of his career.

Adams was on the receiving end for one of those touchdown tosses, and the New York Jets’ win did the Raiders a favor. The Jets are expected to be looking for a quarterback this offseason as Sunday could have been the final game of Rodgers’ career. However, at 5-12, New York will be picking behind Las Vegas in the 2025 NFL Draft.

So, that’s one less QB-needy team the Silver and Balck will have to worry about in April.

Josh Jacobs

  • Stats: 6 rushes, 44 yards, 1 TD
  • Game result: 22-24 Packers lose

This game ended up meaning very little in the big picture as the Washington Commanders beat the Dallas Cowboys, securing the sixth seed for the Commanders. The Green Bay Packers also didn’t seem to be very interested in winning the contest as Jordan Love got pulled and Jacobs only had seven touches, giving the Chicago Bears their first win over Green Bay since 2018.

Jacobs managed to keep his touchdown streak alive, bumping it eight to eight consecutive games with a score. He finishes the regular season with 1,329 (second-most of his career) and 15 rushing touchdowns (the most of his career). The 2019 first-round pick also had 342 yards and a touchdown as a receiver in 2024.
