Mike Kafka gets his first head-coaching interview of the 2025 coaching cycle
Chicago Bears have requested an interview with New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka for their open head coaching position, per a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Kafka has been a hot name on the coaching carousel since his first season as the Giants made the playoffs back in 2022 season. He received multiple head coaching interviews over the previous two years, and this is his first interview of the 2025 coaching cycle.
As this is for a head coaching job, the Giants can’t block Kafka from interviewing with the Bears.
The Bears are expected to heavily pursue Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson after the performance of the Lions’ offense under him. Chicago has invested heavily in their offense but have only glimpsed the potential of their various pieces.
It makes sense that they would also interview Kafka, as a young progressive coach with a diverse background under Andy Reid and Brian Daboll. The Giants got the most out of their limited offensive personnel in 2022 and excelled in exploiting opponents’ tendencies.
It’s also potentially notable that the Seattle Seahawks have fired offensive coordinator Ben Grubb.

Kafka was a finalist for their head coaching job last year and Seattle also requested an interview with him for their offensive coordinator job — which the Giants blocked.
