Giants finish the season 3-14
The New York Giants wrapped up their regular season on Sunday with a 20-13 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, a game that served as an opportunity for both teams to evaluate depth ahead of an offseason for the Giants and the playoffs for the Eagles.
The Giants finish the season 3-14, and having lost 11 of their last 12 games.
The Giants’ day began with an aggressive gamble from coach brian Daboll, opting to go for it on fourth-and-7 from the Eagles’ 49-yard line. Quarterback Drew Lock misfired on the attempt.
Lock struggled to find consistency against a Philadelphia defense missing most of its starters after halftime. Despite some flashes of potential, including a promising drive into Eagles territory, the Giants couldn’t capitalize. Another fourth-down gamble late in the first half saw Lock overthrow Malik Nabers, stalling a potential scoring drive.
Philadelphia’s offense, led by rookie quarterback Tanner McKee, was efficient. McKee, making his first NFL start, threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns.
For New York, the game was emblematic of a season filled with unmet expectations.
Malik Nabers did catch five passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. He finished with 109 receptions, breaking the single-season franchise record of 107 established by Steve Smith in 2009.
Injuries
- Elijah Chatman was evaluated for a concussion.
