Brian Daboll says Giants will “do everything we can” to play a good game
The New York Giants already lost control of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by defeating the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday. They aren’t going to enter Sunday’s season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles worrying about trying to improve their current No. 4 spot in the draft order.
They are entering the game trying to finish the season with back-to-back victories.
“We put everything we got into it. That’s what we’ll do this week,” said head coach Brian Daboll. “We’ll do everything we can do to play and coach as well as we can.”
The Giants are 3-13, have not won in Philadelphia since 2013, and Daboll and GM Joe Schoen are fighting to keep their jobs beyond Sunday night. The 13-3 Eagles, who are favored by 2.5 points, have already clinched the NFC East title and are locked into the No. 2 seed in the upcoming NFC playoffs. They will rest Saquon Barkley, denying him a chance to break Eric Dickerson’s 40-year-old single-season rushing record, and several other starters.
For the Giants, every healthy starter will play.
“We’re just going to focus on us and go out there and try to perform well,” Daboll said.
Three Giants — center John Michael Schmitz (ankle), linebacker Micah McFadden (neck) and right tackle Evan Neal (hip/rib) — missed practice again on Friday and are unlikely to play.
That means Greg Van Roten at center and Jake Kubas at right guard for a second straight week, and either Chris Hubbard or Tyre Phillips at right tackle.
Daboll deflected when asked about the possibility he could be coaching his last game with the Giants on Sunday.
“Just focus on the things you can control,” he said. “Focus on coming out here and ending up the week on a good note and getting ready to play a game against Philly.”
