NFL Rumors: Mara, Giants ‘Want’ to Keep Brian Daboll, Joe Schoen amid Hot-Seat Buzz | Bleacher Report
On ESPN’s Get Up on Monday, insider Adam Schefter reported that owner John Mara wants to keep head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen despite the team’s struggles.
“John Mara has said that he wants to be patient, he wants to give them time, he wants to give them a chance, and they have really wanted to keep the same thing going here,” Schefter said. “Consistency. Now, that doesn’t mean they ultimately will. There are going to be conversations after the season, but there’s a feeling in that building that they want to run the course and keep things the same and move forward with these guys. We’ll see whether they actually do that.”
Tyrone Tracy: This is just the beginning
“We’re here for a reason. This is just the beginning of something special. I’m blessed to be here.”

Brian Daboll makes plea for keeping his job after Giants snap 10-game losing streak | The Athletic
“I think if you get good quarterback play, you have an opportunity in every game,” Daboll said. “I’ve had a lot of confidence in the people in our building and the way they operate. Not the results, obviously, but coming back from injuries that are pretty good injuries, and they fight back to perform at the end of the year. I’ve been on some other teams — it’s a credit to the coaches, battling through it with the players who are injured, who come back, who compete, who work hard every day, are in early and have extra meetings in December when you don’t have a very good record.”

Brian Daboll’s team played for him Sunday, and you can see the flashes of where the Giants see their future. Too little too late? I’m not sure. But I think the Maras and Tisches are looking for reasons to go forward with the current setup, and Daboll might’ve just helped them get there.
For what it’s worth, the Giants and Las Vegas Raiders are easily the most aggressive teams on the draft quarterback trail—both had high-level execs at the Pop-Tarts Bowl, where Miami’s Cam Ward played, and the Alamo Bowl, where Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders wrapped up his college career.

John Mara can’t let desperate GM Joe Schoen select next QB — especially as Giants fall in draft order | NJ.com
A single-season turnaround à la Jayden Daniels and the Commanders is what co-owner John Mara would likely demand if he decides to retain Schoen — which recent reports suggest he will — so the third-year GM would likely do whatever it took to select a QB. This creates two nightmare scenarios for Giants fans:
1. Schoen trades a massive haul for the No. 1 pick — a move that would, in all likelihood, cost them their first, a future first and then some.
2. He reaches on a QB in the weak class (Quinn Ewers or Jalen Milroe, anybody?). This is exactly how they landed on Jones in 2019.
Notes & Stats: Rookies Malik Nabers, Tyrone Tracy Jr. make history | Giants.com
Lock’s 155.3 rating was the highest by a Giants quarterback with at least 15 attempts since Nov. 18, 2018, when Eli Manning had a rating of 155.8 in a 38-35 victory against Tampa Bay. Manning completed 17 of 18 passes in that game.
In the first half, Lock completed seven of eight passes for 153 yards and three touchdowns for a perfect rating of 158.3 – the first by a Giants quarterback in a first half since Manning on Oct. 11, 2009, against the Raiders.

For Giants fans, draft position has been the primary topic of conversation in recent weeks. That wasn’t the case for the players before and after a win that ultimately eliminated the Colts from playoff contention.
“Not one bit. That’s not talked about with us,” Giants wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson said. “Guys are out here playing for their livelihoods. This is their job. A lot of guys, they might not be on this team next year.”
Week 17 win shows why Giants must find their quarterback – winning made that more difficult | SNY.tv
Now it looks like the Giants must hope the Patriots finish with either the No. 1 or 2 pick. Unlike Tennessee and Cleveland, the Patriots have their quarterback of the future (Drake Maye). They’d be much more likely to trade down with the Giants so Schoen could go up and get his.
It will be costly. It will almost certainly cost Schoen a future first-round pick (and then some). It’s a price he will have no choice but to pay.
They need a quarterback. The path to one was once so clear. It’s much murkier now.
Six non-QBs for Giants to consider in 2025 NFL Draft after losing control of top pick | New York Post
While trading up is still an option to land Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward, the six best non-quarterbacks in the draft class in case the Giants pivot to are: WR/CB Travis Hunter, Colorado, CB Will Johnson, Michigan, EDGE Abdul Carter, Penn State, DT Mason Graham, Michigan, OT Kelvin Banks, Texas and WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona.

4. New York Giants Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado. Quarterbacks are always pushed higher in the draft order, but neither Ward nor Shedeur Sanders is a prospect who has to be taken in the top-5 overall. In this scenario, the Titans went a different route because they were not enamored with their options. New York still gets Sanders, but a few picks later.

Nick Sirianni “still not there” on decision about playing starters in Week 18 | Pro Football Talk
The health of the team’s quarterbacks may take some decisions out of Sirianni’s hands. Quarterback Jalen Hurts remains in the concussion protocol and Kenny Pickett is dealing with broken ribs, so Tanner McKee may be the starter by default. The Eagles are locked into the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs, so they’ll be at home in the wild card round with any result.
Among healthy players, running back Saquon Barkley’s status will be of particular interest. Barkley finished Sunday’s game with 2,005 rushing yards for the season and he is 101 yards away from breaking Eric Dickerson’s single-season record.
Should the Eagles let Saquon Barkley chase NFL history in Week 18? | Bleeding Green Nation
Barkley, the NFL’s leading rusher in 2024, is averaging 131.6 yards per game this year so, hypothetically, he wouldn’t even need to play the whole game to break the record. Certainly worth noting for the purposes of the record: Dickerson set his record in 16 games while Simpson set his in only 14. Barkley, if he plays, will have had 17 contests to accumulate his rushing total.
