Uno in or Uno out?
The big news in the Cincinnati Bengals world today was that star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was returning to practice as his contract status was still in limbo.
While Chase’s return stole the show, we also got a look at the first injury report as the Bengals prepare to face the New England Patriots on Sunday.
The Bengals appear to be healthy entering Week 1, with no players missing practice, but some were limited.
Chase was listed as limited, but the reason was listed as rest, not injury. This could be Chase ramping back up, or it could have a deeper meaning in regard to the contract. We may all be too exhausted to speculate further.
Joe Burrow is listed on the report with his right wrist but was listed as a full participant.
A pair of rookies also showed as limited. Rookie defensive tackle Kris Jenkins was limited with a thumb injury, while offensive tackle Amarius Mims was limited as he worked his way back from a pectoral injury. Jenkins should be good to suit up on Sunday, but Mims is far more uncertain.
For the Patriots, the list is a bit longer, but offensive guard Sidy Sow (ankle) was the only nonparticipant.
Defensive back Johnathan Jones (hamstring), offensive tackle Vederian Lowe (abdomen), Linebacker Josh Uche (foot), and linebacker Oshane Ximines (ankle) were all listed as limited participants. They should all have a chance to play, but the Thursday injury report will give a better indication.
Full participants included linebacker Christian Elliss (concussion), tight end Hunter Henry (foot), linebacker Anfernee Jennings (foot), and defensive end Deatrich Wise (hamstring). Barring any setbacks, they should all take the field Sunday afternoon.
