Planes scheduled to fly above the stadium pre-game have apparently been grounded
There reportedly will not be a banner ‘three-peat’ at MetLife Stadium on Sunday when the New York Giants face the Indianapolis Colts in their final home game of the 2024 season.
Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post is reporting that High Exposure Aerial Advertising has cancelled orders for three banner-flying planes to fly over the stadium before the 1 p.m. kickoff due to weather conditions.
The Post was told by High Exposure that Federal Aviation Administration regulations prohibit banner planes from flying when the cloud ceiling is lower than 800 feet, as it is expected to be on Sunday when rain is expected in East Rutherford, N.J throughout the day.
Planes carrying messages for co-owner John Mara flew over MetLife Stadium before each of the last two home games.
Before a Dec. 8 game against the New Orleans Saints a banner reading “Mr Mara Enough – PLZ FIX THIS DUMPSTER FIRE” was flown above the stadium.
A week later, before the Dec. 15 game against the Baltimore Ravens, the message read “MR MARA ENOUGH – WE WON’T STOP UNTIL YOU FIRE EVERYONE.”
Fans will have to content themselves with not showing up, wearing paper bags over their heads if they do, and perhaps leaving early to show their displeasure.
