Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 12/26/24

The Los Angeles Rams won their fifth away game in row this past Sunday and they are currently on a 4-game win streak in general. This L.A. team has been winning different ways whether it’s on the road, at home, on Thursdays and Sundays, this group has proven to be versatile, and most importantly they have been playing winning football.

The Rams will close out the season with two homes game and a great shot at winning the NFC West. Fans and the organization alike will find out if they can get the job done.

Hopefully you enjoyed some of the holiday and festivities. Stay safe and thanks for checking out Turf Show Times!

The Rams Have Just Hit A New Milestone (si.com)

“The Los Angeles Rams went on the road to face the New York Jets on Sunday, Dec. 22, the team’s eighth away game of the season. They won 19-9 over the Jets, putting their record at 9-6 and placing them at third in the NFC.

However, the win also marked something else impressive — the team’s fifth straight win on the road, making this season the team’s longest road game winning streak since 2001.”

Home will feel like home again for Rams when Cardinals visit SoFi Stadium (latimes)

“But coach Sean McVay, quarterback Matthew Stafford and the rest of the offense can take comfort knowing at least one thing can be eliminated as they get ready for Saturday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium: practicing with a silent count.

Unlike fans of the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, Las Vegas Raiders, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills, Cardinals followers will not fill more than half of SoFi Stadium. Or even a discernible fraction.”

Rams could be preparing to overhaul their wide receiver room in 2025

“The only wide receivers under contract for the Los Angeles Rams next year are Puka Nacua, Cooper Kupp and Jordan Whittington. Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell, Tyler Johnson and Xavier Smith are all set to be free agents, making it possible for them to sign elsewhere. While Smith may return due to his abilities as a returner, that’s at least three roster spots that the Rams will look to fill this offseason at the wide receiver position.

It remains possible the Rams will bring back Robinson as they did last offseason, it’s become clear that Atwell and Johnson are not exactly in the franchises’ plans moving forward, calling into question how GM Les Snead will address such a pressing need.”

Will Cardinals RB James Conner Play vs Rams? (si.com)

“With the Rams and Cardinals playing on Saturday rather than Sunday, the typical Wed-Thurs-Fri schedule for practice/injury reports has been bumped up by a day.

The Cardinals first listed Conner as a limited participant on their Tuesday report, and at minimum it again looks like he’ll be that for Wednesday.

Conner exited the second half of Arizona’s loss against Carolina after having his leg twisted on a tackle – he did not return to action.”

IT WAS A PERFECT GAME PLAN (By CDNGolfer on Dec 24, 2024)

Saying Stafford had a below par, or weak game on Sunday would be like saying Usain Bolt had a weak race because he failed to come in under 10 seconds, in a winning effort, in the hundred meters without looking at the ‘Why?’

In Usain’s race it was probably because the track had six inches of mud on it, in Stafford’s case, it was by design.

Take a look at this chart. As Blaine says, “Rams QB Matthew Stafford targeted receivers behind the line of scrimmage on 10 of his 19 pass attempts (52.6%) in the Rams’ Week 16 win over the Jets, the highest rate by any quarterback this season.” In addition, if you look at the first half game thread, multiple peeps were asking “Why do we keep throwing that pass?” I was asking the same thing.”
