The latest news on Philadelphia and Dallas.

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their first official injury report on Wednesday in advance of their Week 17 home game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Note that this report is an estimation because the team did not practice since it’s Christmas.

The Eagles listed 10 players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: Jalen Hurts, Nakobe Dean, Will Shipley, Saquon Barkley, Mekhi Becton, A.J. Brown, Landon Dickerson, Lane Johnson, Darius Slay, and Josh Sweat.

Hurts is listed with “left finger/concussion.” He’s been dealing with a broken finger on his non-throwing hand and he obviously picked up a concussion during the Eagles’ Week 16 loss to the Washington Commanders. Hurts being listed as a non-participant isn’t the most encouraging signs for his chances of playing on Sunday but we’ll see if he gets upgraded at all on Thursday. If he’s DNP again tomorrow, that could mean he’s not playing.

Dean got banged up in Week 16. He briefly missed some snaps before finishing the game. Dean might be able to play this weekend but we’ll see how he fares over the next two days.

Shipley, like Hurts, is also in the concussion protocol. If he can’t play this weekend, the Eagles could look to temporarily elevate Tyrion Davis-Price from the practice squad to have a third running back behind Barkley and Kenny Gainwell.

Barkley, Becton, Brown, Dickerson, Johnson, Slay, and Sweat were listed with rest designations. They’ll be ready to play on Sunday.

The Eagles listed one player under LIMITED PARTICIPATION: Kenny Pickett.

Pickett sustained an injury to his ribs while filling in for Hurts in Week 16. If Hurts can’t play, it seems like Pickett will get the start. Of course, there’s a case to be made that a full healthy Tanner McKee should be playing over a less than 100% Pickett. Especially when McKee should arguably be playing over Pickett when they’re both healthy.

The Eagles listed two players under FULL PARTICIPATION: Bryce Huff and Britain Covey.

The Eagles opened Huff’s 21-day practice window to return from injured reserve last week. This is the first time he’s been listed as a full participant; he was limited leading up to Week 16. Perhaps Huff will be able to rejoin the Eagles’ pass rush rotation on Sunday. The team has until 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday to activate him in time to play against the Cowboys. The Eagles could look to waive Charles Harris to make room for Huff’s return.

Covey hasn’t played since suffering a neck injury on December 1. He was ruled out of the Eagles’ Week 16 game despite being a full participant in practice all week. Maybe Covey will finally be ready to play this Sunday? We’ll learn more on Friday’s final injury report.
