Each week, in our SB Nation Reacts Survey, we will provide readers with a question or two specifically geared toward Lions fans, with an article exploring the results released later in the week. Because of the holidays this week, this installment will only have one question: Are you confident the Lions are headed in the right direction? (weekly poll)
Confidence is an interesting thing to track amongst fan bases because, not only is there a wide variance in expectations, but because each team rides the rollercoaster of emotions differently.
For example. The Giants (2-13) have the worst record in football, followed by the Patriots, Jaguars, Titans, Browns, and Raiders, who are all 3-12. When we last checked in on the confidence levels amongst these fanbases, they were as follows:
- Giants: 51%
- Patriots: 15%
- Jaguars: 17%
- Titans: 22%
- Browns: 18%
- Raiders: 27%
Five of those confidence percentages seem logical, but are half the Giants fans seriously sold on them getting the No. 1 pick AND getting it right?
For the Lions, confidence has been high the majority of the season, and rightfully so, with only a few dips when the team ran into obstacles. Here’s a look at the wave this fan base has been riding all season.
- Opening Week 1: 99%
- Following a win over Week 1 Rams: 97%
- Loss to Bucs: 79%
- Win over Cardinals: 92%
- Win over Seahawks: 99%
- Bye week: 96%
- Win over Cowboys: 98%
- Win over Vikings: 98%
- Win over Titans: 96%
- Win over Packers: 99%
- Win over Texans: 99%
- Win over Jaguars: 99%
- Win over Colts: 99%
- Win over Bears: 91% (Note: I still think the Packers troll sabotaged this poll)
- Win over Packers: 98%
- Loss to Bills: 86%
It’s been a season full of fun and we should absolutely feel spoiled for having 13 victories to celebrate. With the Lions overcoming injuries and doubling up the Chicago Bears to reach 5-0 in the NFC North and 13-2 on the season, it’s once again time to vote.
