The Bengals complete the sweep in the Battle of Ohio.
The Cincinnati Bengals have their work cut out for them if they want to make the NFL Playoffs after starting the season 4-8.
Thankfully, their win against the Cleveland Browns moves them to 7-8 and keeps those slim postseason hopes alive. The defense really showed up vs. Cleveland, getting multiple key turnovers, including two in the red zone.
The offense struggled once Amarius Mims went out, and the team was down to Devin Cochran and Cody Ford playing OT, so the team will have to hope to get Mims and Orlando Brown Jr. back in week 17 against a better Broncos team.
Even if the Bengals win out, they are going to need some help with the Colts still needing to lose, along with the Broncos having to lose in Week 18. The Bengals will be heavily rooting for the Steelers to beat the Chiefs and keep them from locking up the No. 1 seed and for the Giants to eliminate the Colts in Week 17.
With that said, let’s take a look at how Twitter reacted to the Battle of Ohio sweep.
Bengals vs. Browns Twitter Reactions
Joe Burrow officially has 40 TD’s this season!
Absolutely incredible year & I’ll remember it for a long time.

FINAL: #Bengals 24, Browns 6
The health of Amarius Mims and Orlando Brown will be in the spotlight this week. Hard to imagine the remaining group beating Denver.
That said, will be W17 and they have a chance. Slim, but a chance. Saying something considering the season’s path.

Joe Burrow ties Dan Marino for the fourth longest streak in NFL history of seven straight games with 3+ passing TDs
The only ones longer:
Tom Brady 10
Peyton Manning 8
Andrew Luck 8— Jay Morrison (@ByJayMorrison) December 22, 2024
Joe Burrow’s free-play TD throw to Ja’Marr Chase puts away the Browns, and the Bengals are going to be 7-8, set to play the 9-6 Broncos next week. If they win next week, then they’ve got a shot (but probably need KC to lose on Christmas so Week 18 means something to them) …

If the Bengals had simply closed out one…one….ONE of those games they fumbled away they would be in control.
NFL is such a competitive league.

#Bengals against teams with a losing record this season: 7-1#Bengals against teams with a winning record: 0-7.
Two games left, two teams with winning records (DEN, atPIT) and their playoff hopes on the line.

No miracle for the Bengals from the Titans. Even if the Bengals win out, they’ll need the Colts to lose to either the Jaguars or Giants.
