Giants fall to 2-13
The New York Giants etched an unwanted milestone into their 100-year history on Sunday afternoon, dropping their franchise-record 10th straight game with a loss to the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, 34-7. The defeat sinks the Giants to 2-13 on the season, with their sights now firmly set on the future and the 2025 NFL Draft.
The game began with a glimmer of hope for New York. Drew Lock connected with Tyrone Tracy for a 12-yard touchdown early in the second quarter, giving the Giants a brief 7-0 lead. Tracy’s acrobatic catch at the back of the end zone marked his first career receiving touchdown and showcased his wide receiver instincts.
From there, the game quickly unraveled. Atlanta responded with 34 unanswered points, including two touchdown runs by Bijan Robinson and two interceptions returned for touchdowns against Lock. Jessie Bates and Matthew Judon capitalized on Lock’s errors with interception returns for touchdowns.
Lock finished the game completing 22 of 39 passes for 210 yards, with two interceptions, a lost fumble and a touchdown pass.
Amid the struggles, rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers provided a silver lining for the Giants. Nabers surpassed Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley for the most receptions by a rookie in franchise history. His seven catches for 68 yards gave him 97 for the season, surpassing the record of 91 previously shared by Beckham and Barkley.
The Giants’ defense had a few notable moments, including a goal-line interception by Cor’Dale Flott in the closing seconds of the first half, temporarily keeping the deficit manageable at 17-7.
The Giants now hold the second overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, trailing only the Las Vegas Raiders. If the Raiders win their game later today, New York could move into position for the No. 1 pick, offering a glimmer of hope for the future.
With just two games remaining, the Giants face tough decisions as they look ahead to rebuilding their roster and regaining competitiveness next season.
