Dan Campbell provided some long-term injury updates on David Montgomery and Carlton Davis.

On Friday, Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell provided some injury updates for the future. For one, Campbell confirmed reports that running back David Montgomery got some good news and hopes to avoid surgery and come back for a playoff run. That said, Campbell said the team is still debating whether to put him on injured reserve, as his rehabbed knee will still take some time to return from.

“I think we may see where this thing goes,” Campbell said. “We’ve still got to a decision to make, because even if that is the case, it’s a matter of do we put him on IR? Do you see how fast he can come back from it? All that, but it’s certainly sounds more optimistic.”

The news wasn’t as optimistic for starting cornerback Carlton Davis, who broke his jaw last week against the Buffalo Bills. Per Campbell, there’s a chance he returns late in the playoffs, but he’s not exactly optimistic about it.

Nothing has changed as of right now,” Campbell said. “It doesn’t look optimistic to get him back. Doesn’t mean it won’t (happen), but I just don’t foresee that right now.”

Campbell also provided some quick updates for injuries more relevant to this week’s game against the Chicago Bears. Center Frank Ragnow returned to practice after missing the first two days. As did Graham Glasgow, despite Campbell suggesting he would miss Friday’s practice. Meanwhile, linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who returned to practice this week, is not expected to play on Sunday.

We’ll have a longer update on all the Lions’ Week 16 injuries when the official injury report comes out around 4 p.m. ET.
