Bengals vs. Browns Injury Report: Alex Cappa limited; Orlando Brown Jr. DNP

Concerns in the trenches.

The Cincinnati Bengals got back to work at their indoor facility Wednesday, preparing for Sunday’s visit from the Cleveland Browns. A few starters for Cincinnati are dealing with injuries to keep an eye on throughout the week.

Joe Burrow (right wrist/knee) is still dealing with knee soreness but was a limited participant Wednesday. He told the media he had been dealing with soreness for a couple of weeks but came out of last week’s game feeling good.

Right guard Alex Cappa (concussion) was present and in uniform for practice and was listed as a limited participant. Per Head Coach Zac Taylor, Cappa is working through the concussion protocol. If he clears before Sunday, he should be good to go, but the Bengals may turn to rookie Matt Lee if Cappa can’t go.

Offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. (fibula) did not practice Wednesday but was working off to the side with trainers. Brown has been battling the fibula injury since the last meeting with Cleveland in October.

Cody Ford (illness), who has started in place of Brown at left tackle, was back to a full participant Wednesday and appears to be on track to return this week.

We got a positive update on defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins (illness) Wednesday. While he was listed as a nonparticipant in practice, Taylor said he would work with trainers, which is an improvement. Rankins has missed over a month battling an undisclosed illness.

Illness continues to be an issue for the Bengals, though, as rookie defensive tackle Kris Jenkins missed practice with an illness.

Defensive end Sam Hubbard (knee) did not practice. Reports over the weekend were a PCL injury that could end his season, but the team has not placed him on injured reserve.

Tee Higgins got a rest day while safety Geno Stone (shoulder) was limited.

For the Browns, cornerback Martin Emerson (concussion) and defensive end Shelby Harris (elbow) got DNPs, while wideout Cedric Tillman (concussion) and cornerback Cameron Mitchell (knee) went limited.
