Random Ramsdom: If possible should L.A. sign De’Vondre Campbell?

Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 12/14/24

After De’Vondre Campbell refused to play for the San Francisco 49ers in their latest loss to the Los Angeles Rams it for sure seems Campbell will be released. Things can change, but assuming he’s released should L.A. take a look? I assume most fans would say no, and I assume most teams will say no. I don’t argue, but I suppose the Rams should consider every option.

Hey, maybe he was done for San Francisco because he really wants to play for the Rams.

Is this article mostly written as another punch in the gut for 49ers fans and the 49ers in general? Never.

Please comment on whatever you want. Thanks for checking out Turf Show Times and have a great weekend!

Kyle Shanahan says De’Vondre Campbell not expected to play for 49ers again this season after refusing to enter game vs Rams (cnn.com)

“49ers linebacker De’Vondre Campbell refused to play when asked during the team’s Thursday night 12-6 loss against the Rams as Los Angeles eked past San Francisco to keep its playoff hopes alive. A day later, head coach Kyle Shanahan said he doesn’t expect Campbell to play again this season.

After the game, Shanahan had told reporters that nine-year veteran Campbell was asked to enter the game in the third quarter after Dre Greenlaw – who was making his season debut after tearing his Achilles in the Super Bowl last season – felt some soreness but Campbell refused, walking to the locker room shortly afterward.

In a call with reporters Friday, Shanahan was asked if he expected Campbell to be with the 49ers for Week 16 or beyond. “No. I don’t,” he replied.”

Rams-49ers on ‘Thursday Night Football’: What We Learned from Los Angeles’ 12-6 win (nfl.com)

“Rams earned ugly, rain-soaked — but crucial — win. The cardiac Rams had to sweat out an ugly-but-significant victory to keep their playoff chances in good standing, bludgeoning the 49ers with the run game when poor conditions hindered both teams’ passing attacks. If you like rain-soaked, field-goal battles, this one was just for you. The rain fell with increasing strength in the first half, and the offenses melted away with it. The Rams punted five straight times. Cooper Kupp had zero catches in a game for only the third time in his career. Things picked up slightly in the second half, but we finished with the first touchdown-less game of the 2024 NFL season. Joshua Karty’s fourth field goal of the night with 20 seconds left spared this one from being the season’s lowest-scoring game. There was even a late hold-your-breath moment when the Rams committed an unforgivable horse-collar penalty on the ensuing kickoff, giving the 49ers a puncher’s chance to win it, but the Rams held on. In doing so, they received a huge bump in their playoff odds, echoing last year’s miracle run, and they now get nine days off. That’s now seven of their eight victories by a single score. They’ve earned it.”

REPORT: Rams’ Wild Win Was Massive for Playoff Hopes (si.com)

“In the fourth quarter, Amazon flashed a stunning stat: In 152 meetings between the 49ers and Rams, Thursday night was the first time there were no touchdowns scored through three quarters. The 49ers should have had a touchdown in the third quarter, but Samuel had a bad drop over the middle on a third down. The Rams finally got an explosive play to Puka Nacua downfield, but again they couldn’t punch in a touchdown. They kicked a field goal to take a 9-6 lead.”
