Rams take injured tackle in ESPN mock draft

Would Ohio State’s Josh Simmons eventually fortify the Rams offensive line?

The Rams doubled down on their defensive line in the 2024 NFL Draft, will they take their shots on the offensive line in 2025? That’s what ESPN’s Field Yates went with in his latest mock draft. And though Yates is not much of an expert on college football or NFL Draft prospects, the idea could still be a fit for L.A. even if he’s only right by accident.

18. Los Angeles Rams – OT Josh Simmons Ohio State

Simmons was playing terrific football before sustaining a season-ending knee injury in late October. He has great footwork and quickness, making him an elite pass-protecting, Simmons will reportedly be ready for the start of training camp next summer, but he might not be called upon to start right out of the gates in L.A. — an ideal arrangement off injury.

Many Rams fans balked at the idea of the team drafting tackle Amarius Mims in 2024 because the player wasn’t considered NFL ready and may have to sit for a year. Would fans make an exception if the player is sitting due to an injury that he could make a full recovery from in time to replace one of L.A.’s needs at tackle?

Mims, coincidentally, went 18th overall to the Bengals. He has made 10 starts and most seem to think he’s having a good rookie season at right tackle.

The Rams have Rob Havenstein at right tackle and pending free agent A.J. Jackson at left tackle. L.A. now has a plethora of interior offensive linemen investments—more than they can start all together—but now they must look to the edges.

Could Simmons be the best fit?
