The latest on Philadelphia’s playoff outlook.
In Week 14, the Philadelphia Eagles officially clinched a playoff berth.
In Week 15, the Philadelphia Eagles have more clinching opportunities.
Let’s take a look at those.
Relevant Week 15 games to the Eagles’ clinching scenarios
Washington Commanders at New Orleans Saints [1:00 PM]
Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles (-5.5) [4:25 PM]
Green Bay Packers (-3) at Seattle Seahawks [8:20 PM]
How the Eagles can clinch the NFC East AND a top three seed
1) Eagles win AND Commanders lose or tie
2) Eagles tie AND Commanders lose
Winning your division automatically guarantees you a top four seed but the math works out where the Eagles can’t be worse than the No. 3 seed in these scenarios.
Note that the Eagles play the Commanders at FedEx Field in Week 16 but the division could already be wrapped up before that game.
How the Eagles can clinch a top two seed
1) Eagles win or tie AND Commanders lose AND Seahawks lose
2) Eagles win AND Commanders tie AND Seahawks lose or tie
3) Eagles win AND Commanders lose AND Seahawks tie
The Eagles still need help to get the No. 1 seed (most realistically in the form of the Eagles winning out and the Detroit Lions losing twice and the Minnesota Vikings losing at least once) but they can at least ensure they’ll host the No. 7 seed in the wild card round in these scenarios.
How the Eagles can clinch a top six seed
1) Eagles win AND Packers lose
The Eagles are rooting for the Seahawks to lose in order to potentially clinch the No. 2 seed. But the silver lining (if you want to call it that) to a Packers loss is that it means the Eagles cannot mathematically be lower than the No. 6 seed. Falling to that point would obviously be pretty bad! But, hey, we’re just tracking the official possibilities here. Just like we did when they officially clinched a top seven seed last weekend.
As a reminder, here’s the entire current NFC playoff picture.
