The Minnesota Vikings doubled up the Atlanta Falcons 42-21 on Sunday.
Sam Darnold – What a day by Darnold! He was superb all around, but especially in the 4th quarter. The blocking wasn’t always there, but he scrambled and made it work. Most of the big plays were him moving and avoiding the pass rush. 347 yards, 5 TDs and a nearly perfect passer rating. Darnold produced big when there was a lot of pressure on him with Kirk Cousins in the building.
Jordan Addison – 8 catches for 133 yards and 3 TDs. Addison adjusted on a lot of those balls deep that could’ve easily ended up being interceptions or incomplete passes. He’ll be disappointed he dropped the ball that he drew the pass interference on, but it was a great day.
Justin Jefferson – 7 catches on 7 targets for 132 yards and 2 TDs. All he does is produce. Not a single incompletion when Darnold looked Jefferson’s way. He’s the best in the league. I’m writing about him every Monday.
Byron Murphy Jr – Murphy Jr snatched the 2nd interception of the day with one hand. It was a clean catch like you would expect a WR to make. He’s now 3rd in the league in interceptions and is playing like a Pro Bowl CB. Murphy Jr. is thriving in Brian Flores’ defense.
Honorable Mention
- Josh Metellus – the Swiss army knife of the defense had a nice interception to start the turnovers for Atlanta.
- Brian Asamoah II – a very nice punch out on special teams when the team needed a play to pull away. It was a 7 point game when he gave the offense the ball back.
- Jalen Redmond – 2 TFLs, 2 passes knocked down, Redmond is earning more playing time. The 2nd year UDFA is finding his way.
