The Giants add depth to a depleted defensive line
The New York Giants are signing defensive lineman Casey Rogers to the active roster from their practice squad, per a report from Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
The Giants signed Rogers, 6-foot-4, 300 pounds, as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon following the 2024 NFL Draft. He had a reputation as a high-motor player and a good athlete for a man his size in college. He turned a 4.82-second 40-yard dash, as well as a 35-inch vertical and 9-foot-8 broad jump at Oregon’s pro day.
Rogers has spent the season on the Giants practice squad after making a positive impression during the preseason.
New York is in desperate need of defensive line depth following the season-ending injury to Dexter Lawrence, as well as the stinger suffered by Rakeem Nunez-Roches. Likewise, D.J. Davidson is dealing with a shoulder injury and is doubtful for this weekend’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Jordon Riley and Elijah Chatman were the team’s only fully healthy defensive lineman prior to signing Rogers to the active roster.
The Giants have yet to make a corresponding roster move as of this writing. Stay with Big Blue View for more roster news as we get it.
