Philadelphia’s top TE will miss at least four games.

The Philadelphia Eagles are placing Dallas Goedert on injured reserve, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Goedert suffered a knee injury during the Eagles’ Week 13 over the Baltimore Ravens. It was previously reported that IR was a possibility for him.

Goedert will automatically miss the Eagles’ next four games:

He’ll be eligible to return for the Eagles’ Week 18 regular season finale at home against the New York Giants. But it remains to be seen if he’ll be healthy enough to play at that point. The Eagles might opt to keep him on the shelf until the playoff start.

Various ailments have plagued Goedert, who turns 30 in less than one month, for multiple years now. He missed three starts earlier this season due to a hamstring injury. The Eagles could look to investment in a potential replacement this offseason.

For now, the Eagles will roll with Grant Calcaterra as their top tight end once again. He did a solid job of filling in for Goedert earlier this season. He’s not known for his blocking prowess but he offers pass-catching juice. The Eagles signed C.J. Uzomah from their practice squad to their roster earlier this week. He’s more of a blocking TE in the Jack Stoll mold.

The Eagles are also reportedly signing E.J. Jenkins from their practice squad to their roster (filling the spot Goedert to IR left behind) for more TE depth. Newly signed practice squad fullback Khari Blasingame could also be a depth option at TE.
