Gesicki has been a key safety net for Burrow at times this season.

The Cincinnati Bengals made a plethora of ultimately disappointing moves this past offseason, but one positive was the addition of Mike Gesicki.

The Bengals’ tight end position has been a rotating door since the 2021 season. That doesn’t bode well for the sake of continuity within a team, and quarterback Joe Burrow is hoping that changes with their current starting option.

Burrow said he would “love” to have Gesickin in Cincinnati next season.

Gesicki has been a terrific option for Burrow this season, and he ended this past weekend’s game with five receptions for 53 yards.

The former second-round pick, who is 29 years old, has 39 receptions and 436 yards on the season. He has two touchdowns as well, both of which came against the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 3.

He has been increasingly impactful in the offense, ending with four or more receptions in four of the team’s last five games.

At 6-foot-6, Gesicki has been a key target for Burrow. That’s even easier to see in his numbers, as he is at a career-best 75% catch rate. Gesicki has never topped 70% in a season, but playing with the ultra-accurate Burrow helps.

Gesicki signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal this past offseason, and he may be looking to build on that in 2025. That could be what holds up a potential deal, but it seems like most within the organization hope he returns to the Queen City for next season.

We can only hope.
