A look at how rookie class did in Kansas City
Let’s look at how the Las Vegas Raiders’ rookie class fared in a Week 13 19-17 road loss at the Kansas City Chiefs and what to expect in a Week 14 road game at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. PT.
Brock Bowers:
Bowers did Bowers things as he had 10 catches for 140 yards and a 33-yard touchdown catch against the Chiefs. Bowers now has 84 catches and is three grabs away from setting the rookie record for receptions by a tight end. He’s incredible.
Jackson Powers-Johnson:
Powers-Johnson started his fourth straight game at center in place of the Andre James and it appears he will stay there. Powers-Johnson was involved in the fateful botched snap on the controversial final play of the game. He and quarterback Aidan O’Connell both took blame for the play. It was a standup move by a young player who ahs big leadership potential.
D.J. Glaze:
The third-round pick continued to start at right tackle where he is a staple. He has his ups and downs, but appears to have a future.
Decamarion Richardson:
The fourth-round pick played extensively for the third straight game and will continue to do so with Jakorian Bennett out for the year with a shoulder injury. Richardson had a rough go against Denver and wide receiver Courtland Sutton and DeAndre Hopkins in past two games. Tampa Bay star Mike Evans awaits Sunday. Richardson has been thrown to the fire, but he’ll learn from it.
Tommy Eichenberg:
The fifth-round pick from Ohio State didn’t play any defensive snaps for the third straight game. He did play 25 snaps on special teams against the Chiefs.
Dylan Laube:
The sixth-round pick was active for fifth time this season and for the second straight game because running backs Zamir White and Alexander Mattison were inactive because of injuries. Laube didn’t play any offensive snaps as Sincere McCormick backed up Ameer Abdullah. Laube did play 13 snaps on special teams.
Trey Taylor:
The seventh-round pick was active for the fourth game and played 13 snaps on special teams.
Not on roster
Seventh-round pick, cornerback M.J. Devonshire was cut and is on the practice squad.
Undrafted free agents:
Linebacker Amari Gainer, defensive tackle Jonah Laulu, safety Thomas Harper and wide receiver Ramel Keyton. Gainer played 22 snaps on special teams. Laulu played a season high 37 snaps on defense for the second straight game and he made an impact. Laula, claimed off waivers from Indianapolis, looks like a keeper. Harper played 19 snaps on defense and started the game as the Raiders began with three safeties on the field. Keyton was inactive.
