As expected.
The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced two transactions on Wednesday morning. Here’s an overview:
- TE C.J. Uzomah was signed from the practice squad to the active roster.
- WR Parris Campbell was re-signed to the practice squad.
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
C.J. UZOMAH
The Eagles were in need of more tight end depth with Dallas Goedert reportedly suffering a knee injury that might land him on injured reserve. Perhaps the fact that the Eagles haven’t put him on IR yet is a good sign that he won’t actually have to miss four games? We’ll see. The team has until Saturday at 4:00 PM Eastern to put Goedert on IR and have Week 14 count towards the requirement of missing four games.
Grant Calcaterra was the only healthy tight end on the roster prior to Uzomah’s promotion. And Uzomah ran out of temporary practice squad elevations with the Eagles using all three of those designations over the past three weeks.
Now serving as TE2, Uzomah will largely contribute as a blocking tight end in addition to playing on special teams. He might see a target or two at most.
The Eagles had an open roster spot for Uzomah to fill after waiving Campbell earlier this week. Speaking of …
PARRIS CAMPBELL
Campbell’s return to the practice squad was expected.
The Eagles have had to sign him to the roster only to waive him afterwards since his max limit of three temporary practice squad elevations have already been used up.
There’s still one open practice squad spot remaining.
