Running back Sincere McCormick should have key role down the stretch
In an expected move and in what may be a sign of things to come in the final five games of the season, the Las Vegas Raiders have promoted running back Sincere McCormick to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
To make room for McCormick, the Raiders placed reserve wide receiver and special teamer DJ Turner on the injured reserve with a knee injury he suffered Friday in a loss at Kansas City. he would be eligible to return in Week 18 if healthy.
McCormick played in the past two games and flashed. He has 97 yards on 17 carries this season in his first NFL action. McCormick had 64 yards on 12 carries at the Chiefs.
He will likely get a chance to show he can be part of the future in the final five games of the season even if Zamir White (quad) and Alexander Mattison (ankle) return soon. They both missed the past two games.
McCormick, 5-9, 205 pounds, signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He spent that entire season on the injured reserve. McCormick, 24, spent the 2023 season on the practice squad and most of this season on the practice squad. He went to the University of Texas at San Antonio where he starred for three seasons.
