Philadelphia’s top tight end is said to be “week-to-week” with a knee injury that isn’t season-ending.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert could be headed to the injured reserve list after suffering a knee injury during the team’s Week 13 win over the Baltimore Ravens, according to a report from the Inquirer’s Jeff McLane.

More details:

If Goedert’s placed on IR prior to this Sunday, he’ll automatically miss the following four games:

Goedert would be eligible to return for the Eagles’ regular season finale at home against the New York Giants. So, good news that he’s expected to be available for the playoffs.

But Goedert’s continued struggles to stay healthy aren’t ideal. He hasn’t played an entire season since his rookie year in 2018. He’s missed 11 of the Eagles’ last 46 possible regular season games (about 24%).

Goedert missed time earlier this season when he got hurt on the Eagles’ first drive against the Cleveland Browns and sat out of their next three games. Grant Calcaterra did a nice job of stepping up as the top tight end during that stretch and he’ll be called upon to serve in that role again.

The depth behind Calcaterra is less clear. The Eagles previously had Jack Stoll as their second tight end when Goedert was hurt but they waived him and he was claimed by the Miami Dolphins. The Eagles currently have E.J. Jenkins and C.J. Uzomah on their practice squad but both of them are out of temporary elevations, so, the team will need to sign them to the roster in order to play. Uzomah’s been called up as TE3 over the past three weeks so perhaps he’ll be promoted if/when Goedert is placed on IR.
