Ravens vs. Eagles: One thing to watch from each offensive position group in Week 13

glenn erby

Philadelphia and Baltimore are both must-see TV, and the scene on Sunday will need no hype as the two offensive juggernauts meet at 4:25 PM at M&T Bank Stadium.

The Eagles have won seven straight games, while the Ravens own a 3-2-1 series lead against Philadelphia. Baltimore has won two straight vs. the Eagles and is 3-1 under Harbaugh, who spent 10 seasons (1998-2007) coaching in Philadelphia before becoming the Ravens’ head coach in 2008.

With kickoff fast approaching, we’re looking at one thing to watch from each offensive position group in Week 13.

QB

Lamar Jackson is 23-1 against NFC teams and has thrown 40 touchdowns and just nine interceptions in those 24 starts, also rushing for nine scores. Philadelphia has the NFL’s No. 1 ranked defense (274.6 ypg allowed), and we’ll be watching to see how the MVP handles Vic Fangio’s old-school, two-high safeties approach.

RB

Baltimore is No. 2 in the NFL in rushing yards behind Philadelphia. All eyes will be on Derrick Henry, but in a game that could turn into a shootout, we’ll be watching the Ravens snap counts and seeing how much Justice Hill gets involved in the passing game. Sunday offers an excellent time to incorporate Keaton Mitchell in matchups against the Eagles linebackers.

Zay Flowers has a team-leading 53 receptions, and his 789 yards are the NFL’s fifth-most and the AFC’s second-most behind league leader Ja’Marr Chase, who has 1,056. Quinyon Mitchell doesn’t travel, offering Flowers opportunities in the slot against another rookie Cooper DeJean, and Isaiah Rodgers, playing instead of Darius Slay. We will be watching to see what pass catcher steps up opposite Flowers.

Baltimore has a solid duo in Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely and could have a potential advantage in coverage against Eagles linebackers and safety Reed Blankenship.

Baltimore leads the NFL in holding penalties, and Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter has been a gamewrecker at defensive tackle.
